Big news: new ownership, same taproom. We've stepped away as owners of our Gig Harbor taproom, and the owner of Joysticks in Auburn has taken over. The staff, the games, and Locust Cider on tap are all staying. The taproom is now called The Harbor Hideout. [Read the full announcement ↓]
Located next door to the Inn at Gig Harbor, this family-friendly taproom offers hard cider and regional craft beer as well as the Harborcade, an arcade filled with classic and modern video games and pinball. Stop in for a pint, hang out on the patio, or host your next private event.

After a lot of thought, we've made the difficult decision to step away as owners of our Gig Harbor taproom. The doors will stay open, the staff you know and love will still be behind the bar, the games will keep running, and Locust Cider will still be on tap. We just won't be the ones running the show anymore.
The last few years have been hard on small businesses, and we've been no exception. Covid, followed by inflation, forced us to take a hard look at Locust Cider and make some tough decisions about how we move forward. Part of that meant restructuring, and part of it meant figuring out the future of the taproom. Closing it was never something we wanted. We live here. This taproom has become a real gathering place for our town, the kind of spot where neighbors run into each other, friends play one more round of pinball, and first visits turn into regular Friday nights. We couldn't stand the thought of that going away. So we took our time and looked for the right person to carry it forward.
We found him. The owner behind Joysticks in Auburn, WA has officially taken over operations of the taproom. He is keeping our amazing staff, building on what's already here, and expanding the gaming in the Harborcade. The one thing you'll notice is a new name- The Harbor Hideout. Same place, same people, same energy.
And Locust Cider isn't going anywhere. We'll keep making the cider you love and selling it wholesale, so you'll still find it on tap at The Harbor Hideout and at bars, restaurants, and stores around the region. We just won't be running any taprooms of our own.
Active Swarm Club memberships will continue to be honored for the time being. Our app will be going away, but the taproom team has a list of active memberships to verify at the bar. New memberships are no longer available and in time, the new owner will determine the future state of club memberships.
To our team, thank you for being so amazing through all of our transitions. You've rolled with every change, kept the taps flowing and the games running, and made everyone who walked in feel at home. This place is what it is because of you, and we're so glad you're staying.
To everyone who has walked through our doors, thank you. You've been part of Locust Cider, and honestly part of our family. A space only becomes something special when people fill it up, and from your very first visit, you helped build something this town can be proud of. We're so grateful, and we can't wait to see what comes next.
